We are saddened to say that on June 2nd Andrew passed away from cancer. Please continue praying for his family that they will find comfort in this time.

Our fellow builder member, Don Jennings, told me last night at our membership meeting of a painter friend of his,
35-year old Andrew Sylvia, who has a stay-at-home wife raising three children, ages 3,4 and 8, who really needs help. In addition to his notifying us, Don has contacted the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, the Interfaith Community Outreach group and a small group of his friends will be meeting tonight to start planning for a fundraiser.

Going through these channels takes time. But it appears that time is not on his side, as his doctor told him last week that he needs a miracle. What began in the fall of 2007 as a couple of spots of skin cancer that they thought had been taken care of by January has now turned out to be multiple tumors on his spine, bones, liver and head. At this point Andrew is unable to work, still finishing a course of radiation treatment, but keeping his crew working is paramount in his mind, as it is his only source of income for his family - and for his crew. In addition to Don's helping him with running his crew, Don is asking our help.

Don has known Andrew as "one of the fairest, most honest and dependable individuals I have ever worked with. We work on a handshake basis and he is a man of his word." Any amount of money that you could contribute to keep this family in their home would be greatly appreciated.
